Si) c FEDERAL RESERVE press release FOR I MEDIATE RELEASE January 8, 1988 Chairman Alan Greenspan of the Federal Reserve Board today issued the following statement: The Task Force on Market Mechanisms is to be commended for its report on the stock market collapse of October 19, 1987. I find it extraordinary that the Task Force was able to do so much, and obtain such vast amounts of previously unavailable data, in such a short period of time. I've been told that the report provides a number of new insights and suggestions designed to prevent a recurrence of the events that transpired in October.
