Presentation (pdf) | Press Release
During a presentation to the Economic Club of Memphis,
St. Louis Fed President James Bullard discussed the
decline in crude oil prices and whether it is a bullish factor
for the U.S. economy. He also said that headline in ation in
the U.S., which is currently very low, will return to the Fed's
2 percent target once oil prices stabilize. However, he
noted that recent further declines in global oil prices are
calling into question when such a stabilization may occur.
His presentation, titled "Oil Prices, In ation and U.S.
Monetary Policy," was part of a visit to Memphis during
which he met with a variety of audiences at a variety of
locales.
