Regional President Speech

TAKE OUR DAUGHTERS TO WORK DAY - April 24, 1997 SPEAKING POINTS - BREAKFAST 9:00a.m. NEW ENGLAND ROOM (Cathy will be introduced by Jane) Welcome to this, our fourth Take Our Daughters to Work Day at the Bank! We have a full day planned for you so I hope you all have had your "Wheaties" this morning. As you came onto the fourth floor today, you probably noticed that we have a gallery of pictures of Leading Women from this area. I encourage you to take a look at those pictures and read the descriptions of their accomplishments. Some of those women are kind-of famous with important jobs--others seem more ordinary with work that isn't as well known. I know this is school vacation week, but I want to give you an assignment anyway--this is a thinking assignment--nothing you have to write or hand in. I want you to think of the Leading Women in your life--they may be your mother, your aunt, your grandmother, your 2 godmother, a teacher, an older friend, a sister-in-law. In your mind, build your own gallery of your Leading Women. Some of your Leading Women may be famous and the rest of us may have even heard of them, but I would guess that most of the women in your gallery are ordinary people--women like your mother, a teacher, an aunt, your grandmother. So why are these ordinary women in your gallery? Why are they Leading Women in your eyes? (could wait for some responses here--or move on) Let me offer a reason why those women are in your Leading Women gallery. I believe it's really quite simple--it's because they have made a difference in your life and in the lives of others around them. They have been a good example for you, a role model--someone you like and love, and someone you would like to be like now and when you get older. Am I right? So, we all can be in someone's Leading Women gallery, can't we? We can be because we all can make a difference! I want you to 3 think more about your gallery after you leave here--and think, too, about how you can be in someone else's gallery. Before I send you on your way today, let me first tell you about "you." Sixty-eight (68) daughters are with us today. For seven (7) of you, this is your fourth time--you've been here every year! Twelve (12) of you have come for three years, and fourteen ( 14) are here for the second time. Our largest group this year, however, is our first-timers--raise your hand if this is your first Take Our Daughters to Work Day--we should have thirty-five (35) hands in the air! We have ten (10) families of two sisters with us this year, and your parents represent nineteen (19) different departments from around the Bank. So we have quite a variety today! Whether you have been with us bet ore or this is your first time or whether you have a sister with you or you are by yourself, we want you to know how happy we are that you' re part of the Fed Family today. Have a great day! (Jane will continue)
