December 24, 2015 Federal Reserve Board announces approval of application by BB&T Corporation For release at 10:00 a.m. EST Share The Federal Reserve Board on Thursday announced its approval of the application under section 3 of the Bank Holding Company Act by BB&T Corporation, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, to acquire National Penn Bancshares, Inc., and thereby indirectly acquire its wholly owned subsidiary, National Penn Bank, both of Allentown, Pennsylvania.
